Sittendorf (Austria), community hall

New organ with a mechanical slider chest, (II/8), 1997

About the organ

During the construction of the organ, the followings have to be considered:

  • the organ should take up the least possible room on the platform,
  • the organ should be easily moved,
  • the family coat of arms of the grantor should be present on the organ-chest,
  • the face pipes should be kept out of children's reach.

The whole organ was placed on a platform with 6 rollers. Nine of those pedal pipes requiring most space were laid on the platform, defining thereby the external measurement of the organ-chest as 1.4 x 1.0 m.
The chest has the appearance of a winged altar - even when closed, the wings do not interfere with the sound of the face pipes.
The carved family coat of arms is situated on the sun-like ornamental lattice, the pastel colours of which make the organ elegantly bright.
